After breakfast we set off to Manyara National Park for the first game drive.
At the end of the afternoon we will leave the park and make our way to the campsite or Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Tucked between the majesty of the Rift Valley wall, Lake Manyara National Park is a thin green band of
forest. There is surprisingly varied vegetation which supports a wealthy wildlife. Deep in the south of the
park, hot springs bubble to the surface as hippo wallow near the lake.
Day 3
Game drive en route to the Serengeti, we will bring lunch boxes so we can have lunch on the go.
On the way to the Serengeti we will stop off to visit the famous Olduvai Gorge.
Dinner and overnight stay at the campsite or Lodge.
Olduvai Gorge; where man is thought to have lived in his evolutionary process. The Serengeti is
Tanzania's first and most famous park, renowned for its wealth of leopard and lion. You will also
encounter the rest of the wildlife or the 'endless plains' with its natural wonders.
Day 4
Exiting game drives in the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight stay at campsite or Lodge.
The park covers 14,763 sq km of endless rolling plains, which reach up to the Kenyan border and
extends almost to Lake Victoria. The park is flourishing with magnificent wildlife. An estimated 3 million
large animals roam the plains. People of the Masai Tribe calls it Sriringeti -'the place where the land
moves on forever.' The Serengeti is known as one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in the world.
Day 5
Game en route to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On the way we will make a stop to pay a visit to a Masai Boma.
Dinner and overnight stay at campsite or Lodge.
Day 6
Depending on your wishes we will depart before or after breakfast to go into the crater with breakfast and/or lunch boxes
for a full day game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at campsite or Lodge.
The ngorongoro Conservation Area boasts the finest blend of landscape and wildlife often called
'African Eden' and the 'eight wonder of the natural word'.
Day 7
In the morning we set off to Lake Eyasi, lunch on the way. In the afternoon there is time to relax or to see the area.
Dinner and overnight stay at campsite or Lodge.
Day 8
An early morning start at 5.30 am! We will be accompanied by a local guide for a visit to the bushmen (Hadzabe Tribe)
and will join them on a hunting/walking tour! After that we will visit the Datoga Tribe. Hot lunch will be served at the lodge
and after that we will return to Arusha.
Small groups of Hadzabe bushmen live around Lake Eyasi. Their language resembles the click language of other bushmen
who live further south in the Kalahari. Their small population was seriously threatened, in particular during the period when
Julius Nyere tried to introduce his Ujuma policy. The tribe resisted the forcible settlement policies of Julius Nyere.
Nowadays most of their children have never seen a doctor or school. The bush provides for all their needs and is a class room for their offspring.
They are often willing for visitors to come and see their simple bush homes where the tree canopy alone or a cave provides them with shelter.
They live entirely off the bush and from hunting generally small antelopes and baboons, although in rainy seasons gazelles and antelopes come down
from the Ngorongoro or Serengeti to their then lush bush lands offering them richer pickings.
In the recent past their hunting activities were resented by trophy hunters who tried to stop their "illegal" hunting.
Day 9
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Zanzibar or home.
